Karl has an excellent blend of both being an excellent programmer and having the ability to engage with end users and interpret their requirements directly. He is has in depth knowledge of the express parcel industry which means he can also bring his own ideas to the discussion too. He's also a really nice bloke!

Through the years, Karl has worked on various projects for me and I was always impressed by his manner of doing business. Karl is a detail oriented and energetic programmer, a person you can trust when you want to be sure that important tasks will be completed in a systematic and precise way. Working as part of the NPA team to provide solutions to our client needs. NPA are a software development and consultancy provider and I have worked with them and their clients since 2001. The work has been wide and varied and some of the projects I have been involved with are highlighted in the projects section of my linkedin profile. I was also able to work on 'skunk works' type projects modelled on Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Development Programmes, as I had the opportunity to work outside our client's standard management constraints. This freedom allowed the rapid production of prototypes to empower the businesses to evaluate opportunities which would have been more time consuming and costly following the standard management constraints. Working at NPA for over 14 years I was able to work on many interesting and challenging projects, listed below are a few of the more recent or interesting projects. Show less

Initially I was contracted to provide development resource in Pro IV when the global operations system Quantum was being introduced. I was heavily involved in the early development and worked to resolve initial performance and resilience issues as the application rolled out globally.Since then I have been actively involved in the on-going support and development for the global operations applications which run on a globally distributed HPUX platform with approximately 200 servers supporting over 850 depots as of Jan 2015.I have also developed some C based modules over the years to interface with external services including revenue protection devices (scales), sort machines and web services for denied party screening.More recently as the team size declined I have also been involved with some C# and COBOL programming as and when required. I was contracted as a C programming resource working as part of the DBA team to assist with the development of data migration routines from Ingres to Oracle on the solaris platform. This was an agile project and focused on the major restructuring of course and qualification data to provide a more flexible data structure for their future developments and updated web front end. I was primarily based off site at the NPA Lichfield offices working remotely via the OU VPN with occasional site visits as and when necessary. Show less
