Karla is an outstanding photographer, producer, and editor. She does it all! She is passionate about her work and an advocate for great design. I had the privilege of managing Karla and overseeing her work at BabyCenter. She turned assets around quickly, consistently offered up solutions, and approached her work with a growth mindset. I oversaw BabyCenter's day-to-day photography team operations by providing direction, guidance, and structure to the team. I managed the photography vendor relationships, budget projections, contracts, agency accounts, and freelancers. I brought the success of BabyCenter’s photoshoots from pre-production to final output by casting, scouting locations, and creative direction. I also established an in-house photography studio, focused on shooting BabyCenter-exclusive editorial, social, and sponsored content images.I continuously assessed how imagery is used throughout BabyCenter on a recurring basis through leading initiatives to refresh areas of the site and app that need to evolve and change. I worked closely with the Brand, UX & Product, Email, Social, and Edit teams to align and ensure that photography is a key consideration in all their project objectives. I also designed BabyCenter’s organic social content — from Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, even tiktoks! I increased productivity by templatizing my designs, giving the Social and international teams independence on updating and adding their own content. Notable accomplishments:• Built on and streamlined the metadata, keywording processes, and best practices within BabyCenter’s cost-free internal Image Management system.
