      • Investigation of the interannual variability of wind speeds around Australia and its dependence on the El Niño Southern Oscillation; the Indian Ocean Dipole; the eleven year solar cycle; and atmospheric aerosol loading due to volcanic activity. • Used source data acquired by the Bureau of Meteorology at many weather stations around Australia, over a 60 year period in some cases. • Wrote software for data quality control and analysis using “R” (open-source; similar to MatLab) • Discovered many data issues that had not been accounted for in previous studies, which in some cases meant that the researchers involved came to reverse their conclusions • Coauthored paper, “Long-Term Wind Speed Trends over Australia.” J. Climate, Vol. 25, 170–183. Show less
