Began career teaching rehabilitation in the precursor of Research College of Nursing's BSN program, its 70 year old diploma program. Participated in its conversion to one of the first 3 single-purpose institutions in the country in collaboration with Rockhurst University in 1980. Chair of several college committees, Level III (Sr. level) coordinator, course coordinator for several courses including Foundations of Nursing, Leadership, and Capstone. One of the key faculty who developed the country's 31st accelerated program in 1991, moved into director position in 2001, and taught hybrid courses in this curriculum until 2008. Began teaching as an instructor in 1977 and moved up to the rank of professor in 2004. Began teaching in MSN program in 1998 when completed PhD in Education with a minor in Nursing. Coordinated the admission and preparation of prospective students. Implemented orientation program that prepared students for the pace and learning strategies needed for success. Developed a weekly "Keep on Track" program that improved retention of students who were struggling. Initiated use of online textbooks and learning tools in 2005 to support accelerated pace of program. Decreased attrition rate by 50% and maintained an average NCLEX pass rate of 95%.
