Public Interest Design Levant (PID) is a human-centered non-profit non-governmental organization that works with networks of stakeholders to develop communities. The NGO was founded as a result of two theses merging, bringing together Strategic Thinking and System Design. Over 4 years, it organized workshops, events, and activations within the design, industrial, and urban clusters aiming to positively impact the city, its neighborhoods, and inhabitants. Some of its most notable initiatives were the DPU Summer Lab (2014), In Good Spirit (2015-2016), and the Cluster Development Initiative (2016).

The World Bank initiated a project in Ulaanbaatar to support and accelerate the growth of the Maker Movement in Mongolia. Three experts from Fablab Lisboa, MIT, and IZEM spent an entire week engaging with various stakeholders, starting from government agencies and vice mayor of UB city ending with students, professors and private sector representatives (largest corporation MCS), igniting their interest, bringing them together and kick-starting the Makers movement.
