Bill Briggs
I met Karim in a college class in 1993 while studying Mechanical Engineering at Cornell University. Shortly after that, we worked together on a year-long project to build a hybrid electric car from the ground up. It was a monumental effort for a group of Engineering students to accomplish in such a short time while taking a full course load. Karim was one of the core team members that got there early, stayed late, and quietly did what it took to get the job done. A few years after graduation, I was lucky enough to work with Karim again - this time for a small company in Michigan. During that time, Karim was a great mentor, a calming influence, and helped me develop both as an Engineer and a person. I still remember struggling to resolve one particular design issue, and was on my way to throwing everything out and starting over. Karim suggested that perhaps this design required just a bit of evolution, rather than revolution. He was absolutely right, and those words still stick with me today. From 2004 to 2012, I worked for Karim in his water filtration products business - FridgeFilters.com. The business was incredibly successful, and I attribute that to Karim’s quiet leadership, his incredible patience, and his ability to bring out the best in those around him. Working for Karim never felt like
