When I began working at Third Church it was important for me to learn the duties of the senior pastor and assist him and the congregation to prepare for his retirement. When he retired, I lead the congregation through the transition from his retirement to the interim pastor to the new installed senior pastor. Throughout my time at Third Church my tasks changed as needed to aid the congregation and staff during times of transition. My work outside of transitional tasks is to lead the mission committee and to run a specific mission, The Pittsburgh Chapter of Days for Girls (DfG). Through DfG, I have engaged our local community, including college students, corrections house, those needing court ordered community service, and other congregations. Within the DfG International organization I’m known as the USA Special Projects Coordinator. I share responsibilities for worship, Christian education, and congregational care with the senior pastor. As USA Special Projects Coordinator, I lead the operations of the USA Collection Point located in Pittsburgh and coordinate with DfG USA and partner organizations. The USA Collection Points play a key role in supporting girls, women, and menstruators around the world by receiving Kit components, performing quality checks, assembling DfG Kits and ensuring that DfG Kits being distributed meet DfG’s Gold Standard quality expectations. I am committed to creating a high quality washable pad that will meet individuals menstrual needs for many years. Show less

I led the worship team during rehearsal and worship. I led music for vacation bible school. During my time there, the senior pastor left for a new call, and the Christian Education Director was let go. With the help of a session member (who arranged pulpit supply), I led worship in the time between pastors. I continued to work with the interim pastor. My responsibilities were to aid her in changing worship styles weekly to give the congregation the feel for what was traditional, contemporary, and blended so that they could discern what elements of worship were important to them and help them create their worship identity. I began as a part time teacher and became the first fulltime music teacher in the school’s 80-year history. In 2012, I was made the chair of the Fine Arts Department. I was responsible for teaching Band, Choir, Honors Chorus, Show Choir, Music Appreciation as well as quarter credit electives. I coordinated with another teacher to prepare students for leading Mass music. I was part of the ministry team. Under my direction, the Honors Chorus performed in New York’s Carnegie Hall and Walt Disney World’s Candle Light Processional. I established the first pep band at football games in 2011. I worked with three different principals and I understood OLSH to be in a time of transition between having a Felician Sister has principal and a lay person as principal. Show less

I sang with the worship team for the Cross Walk service on Sunday evenings. The service was held after youth group meetings, so I was able to volunteer at a couple of youth events as well. I also sang at a few Sunday morning services when a soloist was needed. When the senior pastor left to take a new call, the Cross Walk service did not continue. I was responsible for children’s sermons, Jr. Church and youth group every Sunday. This included choosing curriculum, teaching and preaching, and coordinating other volunteers. I was also responsible for a monthly children’s activity. I planned curriculum, advertised, and coordinated volunteers. I coordinated a yearly Vacation Bible School with other local churches. I coordinated youth and children’s programs for special events such as Easter, Strawberry Festival, Children’s Sunday, Spaghetti Dinners, Christmas Craft Show and Christmas play. I also coordinated special field trips to the Pittsburgh Zoo, Splash Lagoon and Crestfield. I visited families from the church and families new to our church weekly with the Pastor as part of reaching out into the community. When the pastor was unable, I did pastoral care visits and preached. During my time there, the full-time senior pastor left for a new call, there was a period of pulpit supply and the church hired a part-time pastor. In the time between pastors, I continued the children’s programs and helped lead worship. Show less

During my year at Crestfield I had the opportunity to discern camp ministry. I worked one week as a leader in training counselor to help older teens think about sharing their personal faith story and becoming Crestfield staff. I coordinated with the program director to lead a Little Ones and Loved Ones retreat. I volunteered as Chaplain for a week of summer camp. I was the hostess for fall and winter weekend retreats and worked in the kitchen. During my year at Crestfield I had the opportunity to discern camp ministry.
