Having had the pleasure of working with Karen, I can personally attest to not only her skills in the HR arena, but also her passion and dedication to her craft. Karen possesses an innate ability to communicated clearly to a wide array of individuals, from senior management to front line employees. Greatest of all however, is the commitment to her employer and people she services each day. Unwavering in her virtues and ethics, Karen would be a great asset to any company or organization.

Karen was the first person from Gunlocke that I met, and she worked with me throughout the interview and hiring process. While working together, Karen was a member of the MCR/HR team that I always felt extremely comfortable talking to about anything. She went out of her way to constantly say hello to myself and other members, both new and old. Karen went far above and beyond her work duties on a regular basis. When I was going through some difficult personal times, she was the one person that truly reached out, always with the utmost sincerity and kindness. She is an extremely dedicated worker, who always has a positive attitude and a smile on her face. Karen is also extremely knowledgeable, answering any questions I had in our time working together. A company would be extremely lucky to have a great person like her, not solely due to her passion for what she does, but also because of her desire to always help others.

This plant is a float glass operation serving the Northeast and Canadian Residential and Commercial Glass Markets. The Guardian operation is one of 6 in the US and 26 globally. The Geneva plant was built in 1998 and has had a significant site upgrade in 2018 involving a capital appropriation of over $70M furnace rebuild. Our plant is now the most technologically advanced float line in all of Guardian worldwide. My Key focus in HR was on Culture, Staffing, Employee Relations, Employee Engagement and Talent Development in a Koch MBM company.

I worked in the Human Resource Department for this top 100 company for over 14 years. I started in an entry level generalist role and quickly received a promotion to supervise HR generalists. I moved with the company to assist with a growing an outlying district and take on the HR leadership function (Division Manager) supervising 13 direct reports and supporting over 4000 employees. In this position I was responsible for opening the first store outside of NY State in PA. When transferring back to headquarters after 7 years, I went into the Training and Development Department (Project Manager) and focused on Performance Management for the entire company. Once that was successfully implemented, I spent a year in the distribution center of the company, leading the HR department (Sr. HR Manager), and working with the Teamsters Union (the only unionized division of the company). My final assignment was a promotion to lead the HR function (Director) for a subsidiary company home center chain, (Chase-Pitkin) which unfortunately went out of business. Responsibilities during my tenure included: ♦ Interacting with management and end users to plan, organize and implement employee recruitment, retention, compensation, and employee relations initiatives. ♦ Negotiating and developing solutions at all levels to meet the needs and to maintain consistency for all employees. ♦ Developing, administering and directing the training for the division that I supported. ♦ Hiring and managing a staff up to 13 human resource employees, a corporate payroll specialist, a corporate nurse and an administrative assistant. ♦ Restructuring and managing a consistent human resource department by standardizing practices and policies. ♦ Improving customer service from the HR department with accountability to resolving needs on a timely basis. ♦ Promoting the philosophy of becoming the employer of choice by focusing on diversity, recognition (individual and team), and performance management.
