I was the designer for the biweekly financial newspaper IEX on a freelance basis. The office moved 3 times while I worked there. The pandemic resulted in several issues where I experienced making a financial paper while the stock market was crashing in 2020 – and were followed by many issues during the pandemic that I made ready for print from my kitchen table while the family was home – many voices. The editorial meetings were suddenly all taking place on WhatsApp – many pings. I can be romantic about these issues we made, but truly hope that it is just an experience I can reflect upon… In June 2021, IEX moved offices once again but I never made it to that one: I left IEX to start at Office Winhov. I regularly worked for the Belgian publisher Roularta Media (BMC), for magazines such as ‘Knack’, ‘Knack Extra’, ‘Knack Stedenspecial’, ‘Moordzomerkrant’, ‘Het Wereldtijdschrift’, ‘Nest’, ‘Bodytalk’, ‘Plus Magazine’ and ‘Weekend Knack’. I also worked on the redesign of their ‘Startersgidsen’ and ‘Carrièregidsen’ (NL + FR). I enjoyed being in Belgium again – the country where I grew up. In 2010 I worked a looong day for the newsmagazine ‘Knack’ while the Belgian cabinet fell on our deadline day. Now that the new normal is to work from a distance, maybe I should start work for Roularta again? Show less

I sporadically assist the acclaimed design studio Experimental Jetset (based in Amsterdam). For example, in 2007 with the design of the book ‘Architectures Typographiques / Typographic Architectures’, which was published for the exhibition ‘Wim Crouwel: Architectures Typographiques: 1956–1976′, at Galerie Anatome in Paris. In 2008 I assisted them with the design of the house style for the fashion store Arnhem Coming Soon (in Arnhem) and in May 2014 with the (exhibition) design of ‘International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam’. Gallery W139 asked me, together with Pieter Verbeke and Sam de Groot, to start a bookshop in their gallery as a continuation of 'Remain in Light', an art book publishing exhibition organized by Astrid Vorstermans (Valiz). We expanded the selection and organized several magazine and artbook presentations. I also designed the printed matter: posters, invitations, price tags and business cards. In addition to being the art director for this bi-monthly art review magazine, I designed the stationery and press cards for its foundation. In the magazine’s layout I applied a strong division between text and image and ads: articles and images, split in two distinct columns, were printed on glossy stock; ads were printed on the first and last few pages of the magazine, on uncoated stock. In each issue I used a different figure or shape – circles, triangles, crosses – to number the articles; these I re-used to form patterns elsewhere in the magazine. Show less
