My role at the British Academy was to oversee, maintain and develop the Academy's archive, library and art collection. My responsibilities included: conserving, appraising and cataloguing the collections; introducing and maintaining effective policies; promoting and assisting access to the collections; managing 2 budgets; researching and conducting tours of the historic building; administrating loans and commissions. As the Archivist and Librarian, I worked alone but as the Curator I liaised with the Chair of the Art Committee. The work was busy, varied and enjoyable. Whilst at the Academy I was pleased to achieve the following: • Arranged and catalogued a significant portion of the archives to ISAD(G) standards • Established a records custody service • Researched and published articles on the Academy’s history, art collection and building • Organised a successful exhibition commemorating the use of the building as a First World War hospital • Introduced a new cataloguing software system (CollectionsIndex+) • Completed projects to conserve and digitise selected records • Organised off-site storage for a large section of the archive collection • Moved and re-organised the library during a project to re-configure the building Show less
