Experiences:• Calculated the mechanical properties including the elastic modulus and Poisson’s ratio of 2D materials as well as carbon nano-compositions, carbon nanotubes, and graphene sheets • Designed simulations of diffusion of sulfur atoms during the process of thin film growth under different operational conditions including heating, loading, and sliding• Established the first protocol to grow thin films using reactive molecular dynamics simulations• Discovered the chemical reaction pathways for several chemical systems including sulfur-containing organic chemicals and ferrous surfaces, phosphate conversion on iron oxide, and decomposition of toxic chemical compounds • Modeled nano-scale mechanical parts and liquid lubricants as well as several solid lubricants• First-time designed and investigated the realistic lubrication processes (including base oils and oxide surfaces)• Modeled conductive Atomic Force Microscopy (c-AFM) to study the lattice structures of 2D materials• Developed several new ReaxFF forcefields for Ni/S/Mo interactions, Mo/C interactions, and Fe/P/O/C/H interactions • Introduced the state-of-the-art quantitative Ronchi test for wave-front aberration measurements of optical devices using image processing Show less
