Cornell University is the land grant university for the state of New York. The extensions exist to educate the population about things like agriculture, recycling and going green, to name a few. I actually worked in the 4H afterschool program at Belleville-Henderson School. Our program consisted of an hour of academics and an hour of enrichment each school day, and added field trips and activities on other occasions. • Substitute Teacher
      • Sep 2010 - Dec 2012

The primary duties for this position included supervising classes, teaching lesson plans, preparing classroom materials and assisting children. One of my regularly scheduled substitute jobs was to cover teachers when they attended IEP meetings. Often these times did not have lesson plans and I was responsible for coming up with appropriate lessons on the spot. From art to music, kindergarten to 8th grade, developmental preschool and life skills classes, sometimes all in one day, it was necessary for me to quickly adapt to the situation and keep things flowing seamlessly. My last year at Robinson Barracks I spent as an assistant teacher in a self-contained classroom. We also acted as a resource room, where three classes a day were held with middle school students with IEPs that were in General Ed classes.

The primary duties for this position included supervising classes, teaching lesson plans, preparing classroom materials and assisting children. While I did not possess a permanent teaching certificate from Washington State, I was required to maintain a temporary certificate. This was necessary for me to act as a long term substitute as well. I was contracted to serve as a long term substitute as a reading resource teacher for a quarter.
