Karen worked under my supervision as a Consular Assistant in the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Karen was an exceptional employee who was capable of handling any number of difficult tasks thrown at her. Karen started working in the consular section during a challenging period of record visa demand and under-staffing. Despite receiving little formal training, she quickly learned the complicated consular computer systems and became an asset to the section by teaching herself a variety of consular tasks. Karen exemplified professionalism and teamwork by always lending a hand to colleagues and providing valuable input on process improvements. Karen developed excellent relationships with local staff and other Consular Assistants. Her work ethic and desire to contribute, in ways big and small, earned her a reputation as a go-to person for any number of tasks. In addition to assisting with fingerprint collection, Karen also helped with case preparation for the immigrant visa unit and reviewed applicant travel records for non-immigrant visa adjudications. She also assisted the Fraud Prevention Unit with a fraud investigation and a fraud outreach event, and served as a backup officer for fraud case referrals. Additionally, seeing a need for better training materials, Karen created an excellent process map of the section's internal process flow, which has proven to be a valuable tool to share with others in the section for training purposes. Karen maintained a consistently positive attitude while dealing with a record rise in visa demand and significant staffing shortfalls in the section. Karen constantly worked on improving her skills, including by attending several in-house trainings. She also served as a trainer to newly-hired Consular Assistants and made a number of good suggestions -- many of which are now being implemented -- for how to improve the Consular Assistant program. Other staff consistently praised Karen's work to supervisors, noting in particular her work ethic and willingness to assist. She was even nominated for a prestigious award by one of her local staff colleagues, and I was happy to present the award to her. Karen is a true professional, possessing a great work ethic and a positive attitude. I would recommend her unconditionally and would be happy to work with her again.

I worked with Karen at LSI Logic during a period of significant transformation and growth within many of the business groups that we supported. As a communications specialist on my team, Karen provided marketing communications support for the ASIC, Communications, and Storage business groups. She contributed to the development of press kit content, reviewing/editing new and existing collateral, creative briefs, and trade show planning, just to name a few functional areas. Karen consistently delivered outstanding results to her customers. She is dependable, detail oriented, results driven, and an innovative thinker. She is articulate in her written and verbal communications, and is always calm under pressure. I fully recommend Karen.
