I worked in a group home for teens in State's custody. We mentored and taught the youth daily living skills and coping techniques. We were responsible for their safety and assisting them with life's challenges. Most teens on our unit had been in multiple foster homes. More than anything these teens needed to be in a safe place where they could learn and grow. Being in a locked and controlled atmosphere their was challenges to keep them happy and occupied during down time. I leaned on my art background and would spend many weekends doing projects with the 6 girls on my unit. I found the experience to be challenging and rewarding. Show less

I was responsible for creating my own curriculum for computer classes for children in grades Pre-K - 9th grade at a private Christian school. After one year there I also convinced the school to start an Art class for these same grade levels. In order to do so I had to raise the funds for the supplies and also create the curriculum. I continued on with both classes during my time there. I was responsible for creating my own curriculum for computer classes for children in grades Pre-K - 9th grade at a private Christian school.
