I have had the most enjoyable pleasure of being a classmate with Karen at Moving Worlds Institute Fellowship. During the six months that we were together Karen impressed me with her core value system. Karen is connected to nature, the land, and her family in supporting their farm in a sustainable way. Karen is of strong character and is able to unequivocally maintain working full time, class work, and her family farm life. During the program, I saw Karen was a daring individual who was not intimidated to try something new. With any group workshop Karen contributed intuitive problem solving skills and was supportive of the group as a whole. Karen and I have continued our connection past the program, and she is someone that I can turn to when I need an authentic perspective. In discussions, I have found Karen to be extremely good at listening and reflecting back to the speaker. Listening is such a lost art, and this is truly a shining example of Karen’s gifts. She is a teacher at heart and speaks of her students fondly. Lastly, Karen possesses a rare understanding of the importance in testing systems for quality before they are put into production. This is especially important in the accounting and financial industry and I have seen this be an afterthought for most, but not Karen. She is the ultimate professional and is using her skills to make positive social impact in the Finance arena.

Karen and I were both MovingWorlds Fellows, and we were also in the same accountability group. Karen is one of the most thoughtful, empathetic, and encouraging people I have ever met. Karen is able to relate to others on a personal level in a really authentic way. During our small-group meetings, Karen would listen intently and respond to each individual person with an individualized message of support. Every team needs someone like Karen who serves as the cheerleader and validator. She is a highly skilled finance expert, and her passion for using those skills to positively impact her community is evident in her dedication to professional development and servant leadership. Karen is an all-around amazing human and would be an invaluable addition to any team.
