Really enjoyed working with Karen at WWF. She is a wealth of knowledge of NFP accounting. In the time it takes me to understand a problem, she's already come up with a solution for it. She's a pleasure to work with, always willing to help out if you're stuck and bringing a positive attitude to the team. Karen had a big impact in upskilling me in improving accuracy in financial reporting and data analysis. Karen also invested in her team, allowing us to go to conferences and training courses.

The Adara Group was established in 1998 and consists of Adara Advisors, a private placement and corporate advisory business, and Adara Development, an international development organisation. Adara Development is focused on implementing health and education projects for tens of thousands of people in need in the developing world; conducting household-level research; and sharing knowledge locally, nationally and globally. Since inception, Adara has touched the lives of well over 100,000 people in need. Adara Advisors was established as a “business for purpose” with the principle objective of supporting the work of Adara Development. As Finance Manager, my primary responsibilities were: • Manage the finance function for the Adara Group that spans six countries, nine international development programmes and two business for purpose entities. • Lead and mentor a finance team in Sydney and overseas offices. • Prepare and present the finance report to the Global Board of Directors and Trustees. • Monitor and report on the global multi-currency, multi-jurisdictional cash flow and forecasting. • Manage the completion of the annual budgets. • Developed financial policies and procedures for use within the team in Australia and overseas offices. • Manage the audit process for all entities of Adara Group. • Ensure statutory compliance across multiple jurisdictions including Australia, USA, UK, Bermuda and Uganda. • Manage finance reporting to all donors and other stakeholders. • Travel to remote regions of Nepal and Uganda to provide training and develop finance policies and procedures. • Recruit finance team members in Australia and Uganda offices. • Adapt to and led the finance team through organisational change and growth.
