Upon meeting her (and throughout the interview), I knew that if I got a job offer—and I accepted said job offer—I was accepting to work for an individual who… 1. …had high standards of personal ownership/entrepreneurship; 2. …believed highly in the company she worked for with a non-negotiable approach to the company’s culture; 3. …identified and planned for my personal growth and development as a key to her role’s success. I took the offer / challenge to work under the leadership of Karen Artabasy, and I can’t say I had ever worked for such a consistent, professional, developmental, and intentional mentor. Some of my most treasured career accomplishments were a direct result of Karen equipping me and leveraging me to recruit, train, open stores, turn shrink opportunities around… all things for which she was never afraid to let me shine and take credit. This is a rare quality that is worth gold in our industry. My time served working as one of her store managers truly challenged me beyond any other career milestone to become a manager whose
