    • American History Teacher - Coatesville Area Intermediate High School - 8th & 9th Grade (CASD)
      • Oct 2020 - Present

Currently, I teach 9th Grade Modern American History and 8th Grade Social Studies at the Coatesville Area Intermediate High School. Although our curriculum is based on a standard American history textbook, I regularly create projects and assignments to increase accessibility and engagement for my students. Through January 2021, I taught in an entirely virtual environment. From January to June 2021, I taught in a hybrid model with eight to twelve students in class and the remainder of the class on Zoom. Through the virtual learning environment, I have gained proficiency in managing my classes through Canvas LMS and regularly incorporate resources such as KAMI, Newsela, Quizizz, Nearpod, and icivics.com. • ELAR Teacher - North Brandywine Middle School -7th Grade (CASD)
      • Dec 2018 - Aug 2020

In my most recent role, I taught three double-blocked sections of 7th grade ELA. Two of three sections were co-taught with a Special Ed teacher, and more than 30% of the students in those sections have IEPs. I planned, created, and delivered differentiated instruction at several reading levels with my co-teacher. I incorporated many read-alouds and relied heavily on mentor texts, visuals, and modeling to help my struggling readers. My third section was a mixture of Pre-AP and Gifted students who read at 8th-9th grade levels. We focused heavily on analysis and writing; I loved teaching writing and watching my students grow throughout the year as writers. For all classes, we used Teacher's College Units of Study as a curriculum. Show less
