Encore Ympäristöpalvelut Oy (former Paperinkeräys Group) is a versatile environmental and recycling service provider. I held the business responsibility over customer relationships organization which included marketing, sales and customer care. But in a broader sense customer care meant everything from order to delivery. Thus the procurement of materials belonged to my responsive areas. The material procurement iwas the second biggest expenditure of the company with approximately 600 suppliers. During my time at Encore I held several other responsibilities i.e. logistics, communications and contact center activities. Working at Encore can be regarded as an exceptional once in a lifetime opportunity. Due to the digitalization and disruption of media behavior the recovered paper business vanishes nearly 10% annually. To recover this loss the company has put a significant effort in growth of environmental&recycling services. To make this possible the company changed its business idea from being a production oriented company into a customer driven service provider. Today the service business represents about 50% and the customer satisfaction & retention is at a high level which proves that the transformation process has been successfully managed. Key achievements: o Transformation from an industry and tonnage driven resource (recovered paper) company into a versatile environmental and recycling service operator and a seller of various secondary raw materials o Record annual turnover in Group level 78 Meur (year 2011) o Two record annual profit margins in parent company or Group level (2015 and 2016) o Re-organizing the procurement and management of hauling logistics (included ie reducing the number of subcontractors from +300 to 150) o Excellent customer retention and satisfaction o NPS 8,23 (in 0 to 10 scale) o General customer satisfaction 4,4 (in 0 – 5 scale) o Customer specific KAM satisfaction 4,52 (in 0 – 5 scale) Show less

WSP Environmental Oy was an environment and energy consultancy company that was a part of the global, London stock exchange quoted, WSP Group Plc. The company went through a successful turnaround and enlarged its service and customer portfolio during my MD era. The two best known references included Metsäliitto/Vapo Biodiesel plant EIA assessment and the Management of Environmental Projects of Eesti Energia at Narva. In both these projects I had an important role as the main contract person towards the customer. The seven years at Vapo Oy were extremely fascinating. I was hired in 1999 to establish and to be charge of a recovered fuel business but the responsive area was soon enlarged to cover the dry solid waste business of which recovered fuel was one spin-off. The business idea was to establish waste treatment service with an aim to get the possession of large amounts of wastes. The wastes were planned to be treated with a new evolved technology (Vapo's own and co-partners') to recover materials for recovery and fuel to the energy production. In addition to the MBT (Mechanical-Biological Treatment) development by Vapo itself there were significant joint projects with Metso (Urban Mill concept) and with Pohjolan Voima & VTT energy (gasification) of which the responsive person I was. During my last two years at Vapo I also attended the Vapo-Fortum (IVO and Neste) pyrolysis project as a member of steering group. The last major responsibility at Vapo was the manager of the Pirkan Voima incineration plant investment project which was then the biggest investment (under preparation) ever in Vapo's history.
