Working as a beach revenue clerk every summer since the summer of 2018 has not only taught me money-handling skills, but it has also helped me to become proficient in Microsoft Office, as well. With handling large amounts of money, it is expected that we document all profits using spreadsheets on Microsoft Excel. I have also become a great problem solver through working this position, since all the issues presented to the Gate Attendants get sent to me. From selling beach parking stickers, to issuing temporary passes, I have learned how to de-escalate situations and provide customer service. I feel as though this position has helped me become a great teacher in many different ways. First, by teaching me new things in Microsoft Office, and also how to de-escalate situations and come up with a solution. Show less

    • Long Term Substitute 7th Grade ELA Teacher
      • Apr 2022 - Jun 2022

    • Student Teacher
      • Jan 2021 - Dec 2021

During my practicum/student teaching semesters of college, I got the chance to take on the role of classroom teacher. Between January and May of 2021, I observed one English class 2-3 times a week remotely (from home/online) and taught three lessons. This experience helped me become proficient in designing lessons that are completely online, and in getting students who are at home more engaged in an online setting. Come September, I was allowed to attend classes at BHS in-person. I began my student teaching semester with the guidance of my School-based Clinical Educator, Jennifer Bergevine. During this semester, I completely took over three (de-leveled) 9th grade English classes. I also got the chance to co-teach two AP Language and Composition classes. I became more experienced in public speaking, lesson planning/desigining, group work, collaborating with other educators, and working with children from the ages of 14-18. I also was able to co-teach one of my 9th grade classes with a special educator, and learn how to differentiate my lessons for children of various needs. Show less
