Kara is always a delight to work with, her can do attitude has helped solve many problems and has helped keep all parties happy. Her in depth knowledge of US destinations makes her a great asset to a team. Despite long hours and several consecutive days onsite Kara is always upbeat and a joy to be around.

Having Kara is part of my team for the last 11 years was nothing short of exceptional. Her passion and determination for the events industry truly shined through at every opportunity. Her growth in those 11 years has allowed her to expand her skill set from not only event planning/management, but to budget allocations, staff management, and business development. Kara is an excellent employee with the drive and positive attitude to accomplish any task that is put in front of her.

Innovatx Events is based in the amazing Austin, TX and serves as a full service meeting and event planning agency, DMC, and incentive travel guru operating in Texas and around the world. I've had the extreme pleasure of opening our Dallas office as our team expands! My goal is to help clients create memorable experiences through innovative, goal-achieving events by custom designing solutions that exceed expectations and have visible rewards. As the Senior Project Manager for GET Destinations, a division within Ashfield Meetings and Events, I had the pleasure of building amazing programs for clients across the globe. Having planned events in 27 international cities and 39 U.S. cities, I managed all elements of programs for our clients including décor and design, transportation needs, venue rentals, hotel contracts, hiring meeting staff, restaurant dine arounds, catering BEO’s, entertainment, meeting materials and room drops, company branded/marketing items, delegate management, AV requirements, leading site inspections and more. While planning events for large corporations, I planned the details of 40-1,500+ person events from the first proposal and leading site inspections, to then operating the event onsite with a team of carefully selected staff. I also spent a lot of time creating and managing client budgets, negotiating contracts and overseeing all final invoicing. For 11+ years with this company, I planned large scale events such as galas, employee incentive trips, product launches, and portions of city-wide congresses as well as details for small ad boards, client appreciation events, research studies and internal meetings. I averaged 60 events a year and did bids/proposals for even more events. Traveling with clients and fully dedicating my time to the success of their program was the most rewarding part of my job! I have also spent a significant amount of time with this company focusing on client relations and building the GET brand in our international markets by representing the company at IMEX in Las Vegas, IBTM in Barcelona and sales trips to England and France.

I was proud to be a part of the opening team for the Amway Center, home to the Orlando Magic, while preparing to open its doors to the public. I assisted with game day events on the VIP Level and worked to get VIP guests orientated with their purchased box seating and luxury facilities. With this opportunity also came an extensive training program on guest service which was facilitated by employees from Walt Disney World - leader of guest services. I planned and coordinated weddings in Mississippi and Florida. I have the ability to do everything involved in full service planning or to perform services as simple as day-of coordination. While working on my Masters Degree at the University of Central Florida, I took on the position of a Graduate Research Assistant with one professor and a Graduate Assistant position with a different professor. Both positions allowed me to further my research and development in the hospitality events industry - even allowing me to work on research studies that would later be published. I also assisted with undergraduate classes by administering exams and preparing classroom materials. Colonel's Quarters is a bed and breakfast facility as well as a home to many special events in the north Mississippi area. I managed guest check in/check out, phones and reservations, and also the property as a whole when owners were away. I also participated in special events held onsite. I worked with many special events, specifically weddings, to ensure the success of the event as a whole. I managed various aspects of the events from start to finish - tuxedo measurements, site selection, printing services, guest management, wedding rehearsals, managing onsite vendors, decor sourcing, budget management, and the physical set up of decor and facilities.
