I have worked with some extraordinary people in my career and few can compare to Kandy. Her passion, ethics and ability to elevate the people around her is admirable to say the least. I long for the days when she was leading the strategy for a network of AIDS Service Providers and no idea was ever impossible. To have Kandy as a member of any team is a gift.

JFK boldly stated that the US would put a man on the moon. Kandy, in conjunction with the National AIDS Fund Board of Directors, envisioned an End to AIDS in the US. It became our organization's vision statement and I remember it to this day. Her bold leadership was motivating and re-energizing for our organization and partners. Personally, it stands as a example of exceptional nonprofit public health leadership.

As founding president at AU, I worked with my colleague Rebecca Haag of AIDS Action to merge the National AIDS Fund, AIDS Action Council and AIDS Action Foundation into the single largest and most effective national AIDS organization in Washington DC - combining policy, advocacy, philanthropy and non-profit capacity building under one umbrella.
