I filled a temporary, full-time position with a company that needed an accountant capable of running all of the day-to-day operations during the summer months. This included monthly and quarterly closings, journal entries, vendor and customer accounts, and a number of other responsibilities. Given my predicament, this was an excellent fit as both I and the company were looking to assume and fill temporary, full-time positions. Following my first year in college I assumed the role of "Head Accounting Tutor - Peer." In this position I not only worked as a tutor in the accounting department, but I also worked as a tutor for the literature department as well. In my postion, I helped other students, some of whom were struggling, to better understand the material they were assigned. This position had me assisting students in accounting and writing, whose skill levels ranged from "Excellent with a dab of obssession" (the mark of any great student) to students who were troubled with learning disabilites such as dyslexia and dyscalculia. Given the broad range of individuals that I was exposed to and assisted in the learning process, this position allowed me the opportunity to develop the skill set needed to thrive in a team environment -- skills I find myself using almost every single day.
