I am an experienced professional with over 25 years of leadership experience within the Commonwealth public service. I have held senior positions in the areas of regulatory price setting, competition policy, financial services, insurance policy, and stakeholder engagement. My key strength is working on solving “wicked” problems – problems that are politically sensitive, have multiple stakeholders and depending on how the problem is defined, many solutions. My ability is to focus myself and my team on the core of the issue, and work with a mindset that is about solving issues, this is my strength. I bring an analytical approach but also look to be creative. I lead teams by focusing on building an achievement focused environment that is both accountable and innovative. I communicate a strong sense of purpose for what we are doing and why and link this vision back to the strategic objectives of the organisation. I actively engage with staff at all levels so that they feel supported and able to speak up and express their views. This provides for an open collaborative culture, where ideas are valued. I encourage and lead constructive engagement with a wide range of external stakeholders so that our advice is reflective of and addresses differing positions, but also provides actionable information, guidance, or advice on the areas we need to focus on. I lead teams that are prepared to take risks in proposing and developing ideas, taking opportunities, and advocating for change, but also being resilient in the face of failure. As a team player I support the executive on organisation policies. I have a responsibility to champion change and an inclusive work culture, so I seek to elevate issues to the senior leadership by being active in workplace committees. Show less
