In my current position, I have developed iterative, statistical reconstruction algorithms to recover spatially resolved coherent scatter form factors of different materials placed along X-ray beam paths from coded, compressive, X-ray diffraction images. The recovered scatter form factors enable us to identify the materials present in the object phantom under study. The recovered scatter form factors enable us to identify the materials present in the object phantom under study. The compressive nature of the measurements lead to faster scan times and lower X-ray dosage than are conventionally required by X-ray scatter imaging systems. More recently, I have been working towards integrating both X-ray scatter and transmission measurements to further improve the reconstruction accuracy and scan times. Working on this project has given me the opportunity to collaborate with several graduate students, postdoctoral associates and faculty within and outside of Duke.

These methods perform target detection from fewer measurements compared to those conventionally required by spectral sensors.
