Designed all load-bearing members along with the load paths and connections in various materials, including wood, steel, concrete, aluminum, and masonry. Performed site forensic inspections with a senior engineer to learn what to look for and wrote corresponding reports. I fully designed custom homes with complex connections. I worked on a large-scale mix-use building for Fort Collins. I designed a steel and wood veterinary clinic in Colorado Springs Designed all load-bearing members along with the load paths and connections in various materials, including wood, steel, concrete, aluminum, and masonry. • Designed all load-bearing members along with the load paths and connection in a variety of materials including wood, steel, concrete, aluminum, and masonry • Designed lateral force resisting systems in wood frame diaphragms, shear walls, and force transfer walls for both Raising Cane’s restaurants and Springhill Suites • Performed RISA-3D analysis of gravity and lateral loads for aluminum pool enclosures in a multitude of environments • Worked closely with clients to achieve highly specific results including working with building departments and contractors ● MLK Pool Enclosure - Charleston, South Carolina - Lead engineer for the 17,000 sq. ft. pool enclosure. The enclosure was composed of pre-engineered aluminum members designed and constructed by the architect/client. I used RISA-3D to analyze the structure by breaking it into parts: one enclosure that was movable (80 ft Wide x 120 ft long x 24 ft tall at highest point) and a fixed enclosure (134 ft wide x 54 ft long x 32 ft tall at highest point). Design challenges - Making the aluminum members and connections work under hurricane force winds, entailing a lot of collaboration with the architect. ● Springhill Suites - Bristol, Wisconsin - Lead engineer for the four story hotel. I primarily worked on the gravity system in the beginning but finished by working on all aspects of the structure. The structure was of wood construction (both gravity and lateral) with seperated masonry elevator shafts. Design challenges - Collaborating with architect and contractor on an accelerated timeline with clean and concise communication. Show less
