I can't recommend Kal enough. He is a natural leader, one who is thoughtful and kind, effective and decisive. Kal not only produced plays to a full house many times over, but he cast incredible talent, even some that have gone on to more prominent stages, he has inspired countless young people to find themselves through theater. I had the opportunity to work with Kal during the pandemic, he was a consummate champion for Grandstreet Theater and the community who loves it. Grandstreet is not just a theater, its a cornerstone of our community, and Kal was the one who held it all together through good times and challenging times.

I worked closely with Kal for three years. In that time, he proved consistently respectful, caring and committed to producing good work. I'd strongly recommend Kal both as a professional and a remarkable human being.

For ten years it was my great privilege to lead one of the finest community theatres in America. During my tenure at Grandstreet, we doubled the size of the budget, added a scene shop, three new staff positions and $800,000 to our strategic operating reserves. We doubled our number of season pass holders and improved the artistic quality of our performances. In addition to serving as the face of the organization, I was the primary staff member responsible for Development, Marketing, H.R., Facility Management, and Board Leadership. I was responsible for three separate capital campaigns to improve the facility and raised over 3 million dollars through sponsorships, donations and grants for the theatre. Show less

AEA Contract - Charles Lindbergh Written, co-devised and directed by Jennifer Schlueter. Built entirely out of the writings of its central characters, North explores Anne Morrow Lindbergh's (wife to aviator Charles) fascination with Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (author of The Little Prince), as well as her struggle to orient herself, to reconcile motherhood with work and love with duty, and to articulate the responsibility of the artist to a world sunk in war. https://www.59e59.org/shows/show-detail/north/ Show less

I was responsible for the day-to-day administration of a small critically acclaimed theatre company in Columbus Ohio. I functioned as the principal communication hub and producer for each production and was responsible for all financial matters including budgeting, rentals, sales and payroll. I managed the artistic office and oversaw the cast, crew and designers for each production. I had a primary role in season selection, long range planning, marketing and grant writing. Additionally, I spearheaded our sustainability objectives and authored our “Green Theatre Initiative.” Under my leadership WITD grew into an award winning theatre company, won multiple grants and partnered with the Royal Shakespeare Company in their inaugural season of STAND UP FOR SHAKESPEARE AMERICA. After members of the RSC’s Education Department attended a production of Donald Margulies’ play Shipwrecked!, which I directed in July of 2010, I was recruited to join the RSC’s new collaboration with the Ohio State University. My first assignment was to write and direct a touring version of Romeo and Juliet. Our production utilized three actors and was hailed by students and teachers throughout central Ohio as a “huge success.” I was subsequently retained to adapt a tour version of Macbeth. In addition to my own class work I was the instructor of record for fourteen separate university-level classes. I created the syllabi and structured each class to meet the needs of the department curriculum. I received excellent student feedback and was nominated for a university wide teaching award.
