NOAA Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR), International Activities OfficeServed as program manager and analyst for NOAA OAR’s India portfolio, and co-led the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and Galway Statement portfolios. Identified and advanced priority needs in ocean, atmospheric, and climate research and provided recommendations on appropriate actions and strategies. Identified opportunities to leverage foreign expertise and assets to the benefit of the U.S. and NOAA that multiplied science outputs across the globe. Supported U.S. foreign policy objectives in S&T by negotiating and facilitating the renewal of a ten-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between NOAA and the Indian Ministry of Earth Sciences.Briefed and advised senior leadership by leading discussions on the development of projects and providing program and policy analysis. Prepared recommendations in the form of point and issue papers, transmittal memos, and fact sheets. Drafted talking points, remarks, and fact sheets based on analysis of recent accomplishments with foreign science agencies.

Produced model parameters of tropical marine organism sensitivity to ocean acidification and warming to support Atlantis ecosystem model development. Used meta-analytical approach to screen 8,000 research papers and develop database from 300 studies. Analyzed and visualized data by writing R code for data QA/QC, summarization, model selection, and figures of model output.Wrote R code for data QA/QC, summarization, and model selection. Worked collaboratively to ascertain analysis met the ecosystem model needs and met goals within pre-defined project timeline.

Addressed key areas of uncertainty in the biological impacts of ocean acidification, focusing on particular on the vulnerability of predator defenses in crustaceans. Designed, executed, analyzed, and published research on ecophysiological responses to ocean acidification and warming.Focused on the California spiny lobster (Panulirus interruptus), an iconic feature of southern California’s waters, both as an important link in coastal ecosystem food webs and as a popular recreational and commercial fishery species. Through a series of lab experiments across multiple life stages, identified how this important species, and other species of spiny lobster worldwide, are likely to respond to future ocean conditions.Performed analyses on over 40 collected datasets on a broad range of biological responses using R, wrote grant and fellowship applications totaling $280,000 of funded support, and selected, trained, and managed over 30 volunteers to carry out rigorous scientific research.

Characterized behavior of emigrating Atlantic salmon smolt to determine differences in successful fish and those that died. Presented research at a symposium in Washington, DC. Used acoustic telemetry data and gained experience in tending gear, boating, beach seining, and data processing. Gained familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, OriginLab, R, and VUE.
