Love Your Melon UF Undergraduate Crew Ambassador

As a brand ambassador, we organize visits to the local hospitals to give the children who are battling cancer beanies or hats to lift their spirits. Along with that, we post and re-post on social media in order to get the company's name out there. Our Mission: Love Your Melon is an apparel brand dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer in America as well as supporting nonprofit organizations who lead the fight against pediatric cancer. Alpha Phi Omega is a nationally ranked service fraternity that focuses on the development of leadership, friendship, and service. Services I frequent include: Alachua County Humane Society, Boys & Girls Club of Alachua County, and local service projects like Forest Green, which is a underprivileged community where we, as brothers, go to spend time with the kids and serve as an outlet from their regular lives. Positions I've held within the fraternity: Pledge Class Historian, where I and my co-Historian took photos throughout the semester and put them together in the traditional scrapbook, Membership Committee Member, where we work intensively on the two weeks of rush as well as pledge events, Sunshine Committee Member, where we work on keeping the brothers active and happy within the fraternity. Service Trip Volunteer
-
Aug 2016 - 2016
We spent nine days in Valle Nuevo, Dominican Republic working alongside the Dominicans and the Haitians that lived in the town building a running water system. We piped the ground from the water source, that was a few hours hike, to the tank that we built locally for the people of Valle Nuevo. We also performed and played with the children of the town on "Children's Day" and gathered the women of the town on "Women's Day" to speak about empowerment and to instill a sense of self-importance in their life. I volunteered at this event to build my experience in selling merchandise, taking inventory, and working with others that are doing the same. Other tasks included setting up and cleaning up, providing service wherever needed, and making sure the event ran smoothly.
