While attending the Edge Hotel School at the University of Essex I worked in multiple departments of Wivenhoe House Hotel including the Brasserie, Conference and Events, reception, and housekeeping as a part of my course work. In the brasserie, I demonstrated active listening, written communication, and reading ability while taking guests' orders for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. I worked with a team communicating with them about guests’ orders and requests. I worked in concessions during events the school put on including sporting events and concerts. I was in charge of a volunteer group showing leadership skills and delegating each team member to do different tasks throughout the event. I developed critical thinking skills when something would go wrong such as a POS system goes down. I am very self-motivated showing high levels of work ethic, being able to keep busy when things are difficult, and developing a drive to succeed. I used communication skills talking over the radio for things I needed such as replacing food or having the cooks make more food for my stand. I would deal with difficult customers who would have a complaint about pricing or the quality of the food that they purchased. During the week while no events were going on I restocked and got the 7 stands within our stadium ready for the games over the weekend. During my second year I mentored, trained, and was shadowed by a new employee showing them around and walking them through everything that has to be done before opening, during the events, and everything that has to be done after the events. I worked in 2 retail stores, Heavenly sports, and Oakley, under Vail Resorts. In both roles, I developed customer service skills where I would help customers with Inquires they had about products we sold or suggestions of products they should purchase. I developed people skills by being patient and informative to help customers to the best of my ability. I learned how to stock products and receive inventory through a POS system and every few months I would display organization skills when it was time to rearrange the store or display cases in an appealing manner.
