I investigated the cellular and biochemical defects present in gliomas in order to gain a better understanding of mechanisms behind chemotherapy resistance. I worked with a team on a drug screen project which involved testing the effects of Tyrosine Kinase inhibitors on gliomas in order to identify possible therapeutic agents. My individual project revolved around studying the role of a p53 mutation in Drosophila gliomas to see how this affects both tumor progression and response to chemotherapy. This worked culminated in my honors thesis, which discussed both of these endeavors. I presented my work at numerous poster competitions and symposiums. I received funding from the University Honors Program, a Stander Fellowship and the Berry Family Foundation. Show less
