With the help of community volunteers and leaders, Bags to Beds takes used plastic bags and turns them into sleeping mats for members of the community who are forced to sleep outside in the harsh winter. We are pending 501c3 approval, have distributed over 100 completed beds, have removed 35,000 bags from the waste stream and have interacted with thousands of volunteers since the beginning of October 2017. Along with teaching high school women how to succeed in lacrosse, a major part of my role is that of mentor. While lacrosse is an incredible sport, I want to help these women succeed on and off the field, and I hope to have a lasting impact.
