I work very closely with Kaio at Apollo 350, where I am CEO and he is a staff level software engineer. We are a software agency working with the world's largest online publishers. For nearly two years, Kaio has been working with our client TelevisaUnivision on their flagship video platform, ViX which reaches millions of users worldwide. ViX is the fastest growing premium video product in history, and Kaio has been an instrumental part of its launch and growth. Kaio is one of the most productive engineers I have ever worked with. His velocity is astounding, and he doesn't sacrifice code quality. His code is always covered by the appropriate unit tests. He takes the time to pay down tech debt without being asked. We share a love of deleting legacy code paths. And his code reviews are just as meticulous. He will often spot small details that others miss. Beyond coding, Kaio takes great ownership. He is always on Slack, answering questions across the organization. Whenever there is an issue, Kaio is often first to jump on and troubleshoot. He has become the go-to person for a wide array of backend questions. He has managed to do this even with a 5-hour time difference from the core team. He is in Portugal, while ViX is headquartered in Miami. Kaio also plays the role of systems architect. He has designed several services that have had to scale to thousands of QPS. He understands how to build high volume distributed systems for reliability, observability, and maintainability. And he writes instructional and design documents, to help everyone get on the same page. Finally, Kaio is perpetually helpful. He is always willing to pitch in at different team, whenever they need help meeting deadlines, troubleshooting tricky issues, or shoring up some technical debt. In conclusion, Kaio does it all, and anyone would be lucky to have him as part of their team.

Key responsibilities included: Played an integral role in the construction and maintenance of a high-throughput GraphQL API gateway. Leveraging Node.js as the server language and Redis as the caching layer, I actively contributed to optimizing data retrieval and processing, ensuring seamless and efficient performance. Engaged in cross-team collaboration for the development and upkeep of microservices, leveraging cutting-edge technologies including Node.js, Google Cloud Platform, Redis, Bigtable, and MongoDB. This included designing and implementing scalable and reliable solutions to support various system functionalities. Actively participated in the construction of a failover mechanism tailored specifically for the World Cup 2022. By implementing robust failover strategies, I ensured uninterrupted service availability during critical events and potential system failures.
