Through DiscNW I focused on reaching out to kids in middle and elementary school, supplying them with the equipment and coaching that they need to play competitive Ultimate Frisbee. I’ve been training to be a coach for DiscNW since 2015, when I entered the organization as a Counselor in Training. As a CIT, shadowed coaches, attended 6 hour coaching training sessions. In the summer of 2017 I was 1 of 5 out of 30 CITs to be offered paid position.

I worked eight to nine hour shifts three to four times a week as a front of house barista at Sea Wolf Bakers. My responsibilities at Sea Wolf included serving customers, overseeing wholesale orders, cleaning the front of house and bathrooms, dishwashing, working the register, counting the till, opening and closing the bakery, taking special orders, preparing pastries and coffee, and collecting customer feedback. Sea Wolf allowed me the opportunity to glimpse into a different career path. Being… I worked eight to nine hour shifts three to four times a week as a front of house barista at Sea Wolf Bakers. Tutoring kids, ages six through thirteen during the summer and fall of 2016. I worked twice a week with Firefly Tutoring, getting paid to tutor and mentor students in math, reading and writing. In the summer I reached out to Firefly Tutoring and they hired me immediately after my interview. I was initially in charge of coordinating and creating a six week math curriculum for a group of five students who were taking a class there over the summer. • Apr 2015 - Sep 2016

I was selected amongst all High School Ultimate Frisbee athletes on the West Coast to write a guest article for Ultiworld. Ultiworld was impressed with my article and offered me a paid position as one of their first ever youth writers. I enjoyed writing articles that are focused on bringing attention to girls youth ultimate and empowering more women to play the sport competitively.
