As a prevention center, ARCW works to provide a save, non-judgmental environment for at-risk populations (MSM [men who have sex with men], IV drug users, and partners of the aforementioned groups) to be given the adequate tools to prevent the spread of, HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis, and STD's. Specifically, this is achieved through education, support groups, cognitive counseling, and community referral services and by offering free testing.Specifically, I work as a prevention specialist in the LifePoint Needle Exchange, and provide the following services:- Prevention service through the administration of clean IV drug supplies (for use with both legal and illegal substances), as well as proper disposal of used items- Community referrals for those interested in sobriety- Education for clients as a catalyst for harm reduction IV usage- Training of clients in the proper usage of Nalaxone (Narcan) to prevent death due to opiate overdosing-Community outreach
