Bartender
-
Apr 2015 - Dec 2015
Bartenders typically do the following: Greet customers, give them menus, and inform them about daily specials Take drink orders from customers Pour wine and serve draft and bottled beer and other drinks and beverages Mix drinks according to recipes Check identification of customers, to ensure that they are of legal drinking age Clean bars, tables, and work areas Operate cash registers, collect payments from customers, and return change Manage bar operation and order and maintain liquor and bar supplies Bartenders fill drink orders either directly from customers at the bar or through waiters and waitresses who place drink orders for dining room customers. Bartenders must know a wide range of drink recipes and be able to mix drinks correctly, quickly, and without waste. They also must work well with waiters and waitresses and other kitchen staff to ensure that customers receive prompt service. Some establishments, especially busy establishments with many customers, use equipment that automatically measures, pours, and mixes drinks at the push of a button. Bartenders who use this equipment, however, still must become familiar with the ingredients for special drink requests and be able to work quickly to handle numerous drink orders. Bartenders in some establishments also use carbonated beverage dispensers, cocktail shakers and other accessories, commercial strainers, mist and trigger sprayers, and ice shaver machines. In addition to mixing and serving drinks, bartenders stock and prepare garnishes for drinks and maintain an adequate supply of ice, glasses, and other bar supplies. They also may wash glassware and utensils and serve food to customers who eat at the bar. Bartenders are usually responsible for ordering and maintaining an inventory of liquor, mixers, and other bar supplies.

My first international professional transfer at 16. Transferred from U19 Antaylaspor to PSV Eindhoven II, I Adapted a lot faster to the Dutch environment as their second language is English which is taught at primary school. My second year at PSV I was blessed to take the captain position as I proved my value through hard work, competitiveness, motivation, and encouragement. It was a role I was not expecting but however grateful for it. I expected to be a leader and an influence to the team. The role of team captain has the potential to be the both the most challenging and the most rewards role of all for a player. Even today, with leadership roles and responsibilities, shared amongst the players, the skipper's role remains central to the team's performance. Not only must captains be competent in their playing, they need to inspire confidence in their players, evaluate the game plan and change it if circumstances dictated. It's important to handle pressure well, make tactical decisions and communicate effectively with the referee as well as the team. Not only is the captain a player, he is a leader, communicator, key decision maker, and important link between team and coach, What I learnt from my experience as captain? 1. Each captain is different 2. Mentally strong 3. Excellent communicator 4. Emotionally disciplined 5. Know the players 6. Self-confident

My first domestic professional transfer at 15, I was introduced to a new lifestyle which I was always dreaming about. I was granted an incredible opportunity to be positioned as vice-captain after three months of my arrival which allowed me to take responsibilities that I thought I would never take on. My passion was football. I started becoming extremely motivated in becoming the best player I could be to my potential. My primary goal was to be best and most useful player I played for. I am a hard worker with a mentality to never give up, and I was a very coachable player. Our team training featured two pieces of training per day for 2 hours. I had the initiative to train even harder when no one else was training to accomplish being the best. I got along and respect all my team-mates despite barely speaking the language. I have had a lot of experience fitting into foreign environments and learnt a lot. I used that experience to the best of my advantage as I experienced as many fifteen to sixteen-year-olds were still at school in their home towns.
