As a Senior Technician in the Global Server and Desktop Environment my role varied from 3rd level support, to project management and consulting. Key Achievements: • I was involved in the Branch Investment Program and worked closely with internal and external Project Managers in the coordination of new ANZ Branch setups, refurbishments and relocations. Sykes is an International IT company with its European Data Centre based in Edinburgh. I was employed as a Systems Administrator for one of Sykes biggest clients, Proctor and Gamble. This also involved supporting the Sykes Europe Windows 2000 Infrastructure (EMEA). Projects that I was involved in are listed below: • Setting up HP DL360, DL380, ML530 and ML570 servers, configuring Raid Arrays, upgrading memory, upgrading processors and configuring RILO cards. • Servers build using Windows Server 2003 providing a more secure environment for Proctor and Gambles Web Applications. • Configuring IIS6 and SQL 2000 Servers for Proctor and Gamble Web Applications. • Setup Ghost Multicast Server to assist Local IT team to deploy specific build images to client desktops. • Carried out a Security Audit on Sykes Edinburgh’s Data Centre Servers using Microsoft Base Line Security Analyser and Retina Eeye Security Scan. Secured all servers where appropriate. • Implemented Microsoft Systems Update Server and deployed associated Group Policy using Active Directory across the domain. I also had the opportunity to work abroad, assisting the Spanish Sykes environment with the setup of a new building in La Coruna. This involved, deploying Symantec Antivirus Server 8.0, Symantec Multicast server, Microsoft Systems Update Services, VERITAS Backup Exec 9.1 ensuring that Exchange and SQL Server were included in the backup. My main role in this position was to support 6 co-located dedicated web servers and to manage the companies Network Infrastructure.
