Completed a year-long project with the Reproductive Development group at MCRI and graduated with First Class Honours. The Reproductive Development team works to discover and understand genes important for sex development, and to identify the genetic causes of Differences of Sex Development (DSD). It liaises with clinicians to apply these findings, and seeks to improve the diagnostic journey and clinical care of children with DSD. My project had the focus of investigating the role of a novel genetic variant on neuronal and gonadal development. I gained experience in stem cell research, tissue culturing, DNA extractions, PCR, qPCR, immunofluorescence staining, flow cytometry, and confocal microscopy.
