The West Palm Beach VAMC is a 270-bed medical center that provides primary and secondary level health care to veterans. I have completed rotations in inpatient/outpatient staffing, internal medicine, psychiatry, informatics, and administration. I also have longitudinal experiences in the anticoagulation clinic, a medication use evaluation on Restasis eye drops, an algorithm for formulary preferred COPD inhalers, facility-wide adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting, and a residency project on the development of a Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN) Medication Safety Dashboard. The preliminary data for VISN Medication Safety Dashboard was presented at ASHP midyear. Every four weeks, I provide weekend staffing coverage. The first two staffing sessions were additional inpatient staffing in the main pharmacy. The rest of the weekend staffing component is providing weekend clinical coverage monitoring vancomycin, gentamicin, warfarin, DOACs, TPNs, and more for admitted patients. Starting in January, I will also be required to staff 9 hours/month during weekdays. Future rotations I will take include critical care, infectious disease, geriatrics, and primary care. Future longitudinal experiences include preparing a pharmacy newsletter, coordinating the reporting of the facility ADRs, and a CE presentation focusing on mRNA vaccines.
