    • World News Editor

As the World News Editor for the Xavier Newswire, I research and evaluate information from high-quality popular and scholarly sources to understand complex dimensions of various newsworthy events and subjects that I cover on the page. In order to express this information and connect important developments to a wide array of audiences on campus and in the local community, I assign content and articles to Newswire staff that cover a variety of local events and feature stories, politics, as well as U.S. and international news, while also empowering staff to develop their news writing skills. I continually innovate my section by conceptualizing, developing, and designing multiple pages covering news I assign using Adobe Creative Cloud software for Newswire's online newspaper. In making content easy for readers to access, I also cross-functionally collaborate with other editors to coordinate my page's articles with Newswire's website and multimedia pages. Show less

    • Staff Writer
      • Aug 2021 - Apr 2023

As a staff writer for the Xavier Newswire, I edit and write expressive stories that report various news topics, including significant events and advocacy for on-campus clubs, organizations, and academic departments. I evaluate and analyze information from high-quality popular and scholarly sources to understand the complex dimensions of various subjects, which adequately informs my writing and provides my readers with reliable information in a straight-forward manner. In order to express this information to a wide array of audiences on campus and in the local community, I am also responsible for helping implement my articles into various accessible formats. I transform my print stories into informative multimedia content for Newswire’s social media pages and podcasts by communicating cross-functionally with members of the digital team. My writing contributed to the Newswire receiving the “Best Collegiate Newspaper: Division B” award from the Ohio News Media Association for the 2022-23 academic year. Show less

I also promote responsible tutoring practices through discussions and coordination with other tutors.

    • Undergraduate Research Fellow
      • Jun 2023 - Aug 2023

As an undergraduate political science research fellow, I directed a project focused on demonstrating the impacts of state legislative redistricting in the demographic and partisan composition of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1950-2020. The project specifically focused on the Nolan v. Rhodes Supreme Court case and how its ruling remedied malapportionment in the election of state representatives in Ohio over time. To accomplish this, I conducted primary research including qualitative and descriptive statistical analysis of legal and personal documents associated with the case, as well as Ohio General Assembly data collected on aspects of over 1,600 state representatives in the House to observe long-term patterns and trends. I also delivered succinct and robust oral and written presentations on my findings using Canva and PowerPoint, earning the “Best Undergraduate Paper in Political Science” award at the 2023 Ohio Association of Economists and Political Scientists’ Conference and explaining complex subject matters in a way that appealed to general audiences.
