Ayman Karim
I had the pleasure of working with Justin as a software engineer for two years on the Verifications Team at Blend. Justin was part of a cohort of new hires on a team that was recovering from near-total turnover. The team’s retention and culture ultimately stabilized for two years and counting, in part thanks to Justin’s presence. Justin set a great example of being a collaborative engineer with a growth mindset. Justin quickly showed an ability to unblock himself in a legacy codebase where previous maintainers could not be consulted for guidance. Justin took these opportunities to share his learnings and seek input from others, preventing his newfound knowledge from being siloed. Towards the end of my tenure at Blend, Justin was leading projects that involved other engineers, teams, and vendors. Justin developed plugin patterns for internal and external teams to add integrations to our income verification offering. This definitely improved morale on the team, and we all really enjoyed it. I know Justin will be a great addition to any team, and I am excited to see him progress in his career. He is extremely well-rounded, and I know he will rise to any challenge.
