Being a men’s volleyball athlete in the RSEQ (Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec) league is a dynamic and rewarding experience. The five key aspects that define the life of a any student athlete are: Academic Commitment: Balancing academics and athletics is paramount. Student athletes are expected to prioritize their academic responsibilities, maintaining good standing, attending classes regularly, and fulfilling academic requirements alongside their athletic commitments. Intense Training and Practice: Student athletes engage in rigorous training and practice sessions to improve their physical fitness, volleyball techniques, teamwork, and tactical understanding of the game. These sessions are designed to enhance skills and prepare athletes for competitive matches. Competitive Matches: The RSEQ league organizes a series of competitive matches and tournaments. Student athletes represent their respective universities or colleges, showcasing their skills and competing against other teams in the league. These matches provide valuable opportunities for growth, camaraderie, and the pursuit of excellence. Effective Time Management: Balancing academics, training, competitions, and personal commitments requires proficient time management skills. Student athletes must efficiently organize their schedules to ensure they attend classes, complete assignments, etc. The student athlete experience has taught me the importance of setting goal, always giving 100% at training or in class, how to perform at a high level in competitive matches, be comfortable playing in hostile environments, and practice effective time management.
