As a Brain Injury Project Manager at the Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa I am able to oversee contract with the Department of Public Health funded by a Federal Administration on Community Living grant. Options Counselor

As an Options Counselor, I provided information and resources to individuals, families/caregivers and professionals for individuals with disabilities and aging. During the Options Counseling process interviews to assess and discuss current and future needs were conducted and information was provided based on results of that interview or additional questions/requests. We were also able to provide information and resources on how to navigate financial support options to access services and supports. Our team also provided transition counseling for individuals seeking to move out of nursing facilities back into the community.

I served in multiple roles while working for this provider who had a mission to serve people with disabilities in their homes and in their communities. Starting directly out of college I began working direct services with individuals living with mental health conditions who needed support to live in their communities and meet their goals. As I continued my time with EPI I worked as a staff supervisor for programs serving people with intellectual disabilities and program manager serving individuals with brain injury. I rounded out my time with EPI in the Human Resources Department in staff development where I grew a love for teaching others about services.
