      Before Ph.D., conduct performance evaluations on IEEE 802.16 Medium access control layer, especially for IEEE 802.16 Standardization in Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, Korea, when the standardization is underway. The major performance issues I examined in the IEEE 802.16 system are: 1. Sleep mode operation (http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpls/abs_all.jsp?arnumber=1400205). 2. Random access protocol (http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpls/abs_all.jsp?arnumber=4024942). 3. Hybrid ARQ (http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpls/abs_all.jsp?arnumber=1547655) The results were discussed with the team of participating in the standardization meetings and developing software, and gave way to academic publications and intellectual property rights.
