Assistance in the design, fabrication, testing, characterization, and optimization of stainless steel/sodium heat pipes applicable to the core of space nuclear reactors (900 K – 1100 K). Instead of using a porous medium to conduct the return of liquid by capillarity as in a conventional heat pipe, the investigated device employs the capillary effect created in the sharp corners of the non-circular cross-section of its channel. In manufacturing a row of heat pipes, a set of parallel bars is positioned between flat plates. The units are then stacked, producing a bar-and-plate heat pipe array. The components are connected by diffusion bonding. Sodium loading takes place on an experimental bench that ensures the modularity, safety, and efficiency of the procedure, avoiding as much as possible the contact of sodium with the environment and with the operator. Assistance in the development of a two-phase sodium thermosiphon in-circuit coupled to a compact diffusion welded heat exchanger. Show less

Design and simulation of an air duct in order to cool the brake discs of a Formula SAE prototype. Direct the front airflow to the brake disc, allowing it to not overheat and work in the optimal temperature range.
