Legal Intern

Aug 2021 - Aug 2021
During my placement at Fairbrother and Darlow, I worked in the Family Law (primarily the Child Care) department. I took on several roles of responsibility in the tasks I undertook. I researched for and wrote a letter of legal advice to a client about the possible Orders available upon bringing a child into one’s care. I also took on the task of a trainee when I independently called a client. My aim was to acquire the necessary facts to determine a reason as to why the Local Authority had issued Care Proceedings on the client’s child. This required attention to detail to ensure that I had followed up on relevant details. I also wrote a Brief to Counsel in preparation for a Case Management Order Hearing – I had to familiarise myself with the cases’ facts and updates by summarising several documents (including Parent Risk Assessments, medical and toxicology records and court orders). Through this experience, I was able to learn about and summarise cases in short periods of time and enhanced my communication skills upon client interaction.

Waitress

May 2021 - Jun 2021
As a waitress for 'Caravan', I worked full-time hours in a fast-paced environment where I helped to serve and complete over 500 bookings on the weekends. I developed the skill of task prioritization and quick thinking in a short amount of time, all the while developing my Customer Service and communication skills when interacting with the clientele. Customer Service Assistant

Mar 2020 - Jan 2021
I began my role as Customer Assistant at Tesco to contribute in the lockdown and global crisis of March 2020. I came to love my role in Customer Service, and it was a very rewarding role. I obtained the award of Employee of the Month in my first month of work (March 2020) and set the record for the most positive feedback responses from the Online Customer Service Survey in the Sandhurst Store's history. My role with Tesco has taught me the importance of Customer Service in all areas of the working world.

Work Experience in the Will and Probates Office
-
Aug 2019 - Aug 2019
During my week spent at Rowberrys Solicitors, I was primarily working in the Will and Probates Office. I helped with dictations of various legal documents, such as letters to clients. I was also able to gain knowledge on the specific sector of Will and Probates, and learnt about a completely new area of law. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Rowberrys Solicitors and was able to engage with the day to day life of a solicitor. Work Experience in Corporate Law Department
-
Mar 2019 - Mar 2019
I spent 2 days in the Corporate Law Department at the Hewlett Packard, and had a fantastic experience. I sat in a Business Strategy Meeting, had several 1-on-1 conversations with various lawyers in the department, and was able to analyse and discuss a range of key legal documents created by the team. It was also eye-opening to discuss the implications of Brexit on the legal sector at Hewlett Packard; from modifications to minor labels of packaging to prevention of large imports of computers at European ports. I came to learn about the different parts of the supply chain in the business and immersed myself in the atmosphere of a Corporate Lawyer!

Customer Service Assistant
-
Oct 2018 - Jan 2019
I worked as a Customer Assistant for Marks and Spencer during the Christmas season. As a Customer Assistant, I developed the balance of delivering high-quality Customer Service whilst undertaking multiple tasks set by managers. Particularly in my first week as a new employee, I would be asked questions by customers to which I did not know the answer. I was able to respond quickly and politely, and always used all the resources available to ensure the customer was provided with the answers they required. Subsequently, I was offered a permanent contract with Marks and Spencer.
