  I worked as a the Head of Fundraising & Communications for a charity called Orchard. Orchard is a registered charity that works to accelerates the development of new and better treatments for obsessive-compulsive disorder. Our vision is a world where all patients suffering with OCD receive effective treatment for their condition. OCD is a common, chronic and long-lasting mental health condition in which a person experiences uncontrollable, intrusive and reoccurring thoughts (obsessions) and behaviors (compulsions) where they feel the urge to repeat over and over, in the attempt to temporarily relieve the unpleasant feelings brought on by the obsessive thought. It affects 2-3% of the world population. OCD symptoms can range from mild to severe. I managed Orchard's communications and fundraising through managing their social media channels, posting monthly e-news, running OCD awareness campaigns, researching trusts and foundations, writing grant applications and working on new corporate partnerships.   I worked as the Head of Fundraising for a rare bone disease charity called The AKU Society. Alkaptonuria (AKU) is a rare genetic disease that affects one in 500,000 people worldwide. It affects patients bones and cartilage, slowly turning black and brittle over time. We work to support patients and raise awareness for this widely unknown rare disease. I managed the fundraising department through organising community fundraising events, researching trust and foundations, writing in-depth grant proposals, creating new relationships with donors and creating corporate partnerships.
