As a teaching assistant within Drexel's MFA program, I am given 1-2 classes of my own every quarter to guide through the first year writing program. For new TAs, a syllabus is given to help us teach a proven, standard curriculum. The MFA TA program also provides a pedagogy writing class to study methods of teaching writing and provide instruction as we work as adjunct faculty. For now, we are adjusting to teaching over Zoom, but I look forward to the future when I can teach my class(es) in person! Show less

Working as the marketing manager for a community based business with no online selling required a much different approach than my previous digital marketing positions. Especially considering COVID-19 quarantine peaked just as our busiest months of April and May hit! As the first person to fill and build out this position, I made my first task creating a marketing budget and implementing a way to track the ROI. I create content for Facebook and Instagram, running ads on social media to increase page likes and responding to comments and reviews - positive and negative. I also film videos for giveaways, educational tips, craft classes, and more to create a relationship between customers and our brand. I am the copywriter for radio scripts and decide which stations we run on during which slots. For print marketing I work with local newspapers and mail advertising companies to target our local area with circulars and coupons. With a few social distancing changes, I continue the event management - hosting events in person and online. I also created The Little Sprouts club to get kids interested in gardening! I re-did Bob's rewards program to be more digitally up to date with better, year round rewards! I also updated the inventory-integrated e-commerce website to be curbside pickup friendly! New Media Retailer, our website host, meets weekly with me to keep the website updated with sales, events and products. I send out bi-monthly emails through mail chimp. To reach local customers, I partnered Bob’s with Nor’Easter Nick as the pollen forecast sponsor because weather and gardening are a perfect match! I've also partnered Bob's with C.R.O.P.S. a local non-profit encouraging urban farming in our community of Atlantic City. I also started the #strongertogether initiative - selling other local business products in our store. And finally, I am trained on the retail side of the POS system as well as the office side as a buyer, inventory maintenance and pricing. Show less

Copywriting: Anything that needs writing for Safavieh comes to the Marketing department. We write rug descriptions for the sales teams, furniture copy for the website, collection copy for new product line, press release bios, company bios, and whatever else may come our way. Social Media: I work with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, RevCascade and Curalate, a platform that makes social media shoppable. I monitor the content calendar, come up with content relevant to current events, create regular posts and paid ad copy, grow followers through both organic reach and paid campaigns, act as customer service and maintain the brand's voice while still adapting to the targeted audience. Ecommerce & Analytics: I work under the SEO specialist of the company. Together we track the website's performance using Google Analytics and Google Console and boost performance through Google Keywords and paid social media campaigns. I also use SEO plugins on Wordpress to ensure each page has proper headers and meta data. Video: I am personally responsible for Safavieh's area rug Youtube channel. I write descriptions about them, oversee the production process, keep an organized list of what has already been shot, and review final edits for the Safavieh DIY Decor videos on the main Safavieh YouTube channel. Everything else: When I'm not writing, researching, posting or filming, I can be found resizing and uploading images to the website, writing email subject lines for higher CTRs, collaborating with the graphic design department, and keeping up with the latest decor trends! FanBridge is an email marketing company that helps artists and public figures connect to their fans. My time here taught me a great deal about email marketing as I tested QA sites helped to revamp some of the landing pages to attract a broader clientele. As community manager, I assisted the social media team with creating posts and graphics, I created tutorial videos for the YouTube channel, I researched targeted audiences we were looking to expand the brand to and I became familiar with HTML. Since this internship, I feel confident in marketing through all types of social media, especially email campaigns. Show less
