Partners in School Innovation’s mission is to transform teaching and learning in the lowest-performing public schools so that every student, regardless of background, thrives. We partner with under-performing public schools and districts in low-income communities, most with a predominance of African American and Latino students, many of whom are English learners. Applying our distinctive Results-Oriented Continuous Improvement approach, our work focuses on: * Strengthening leaders’ abilities to concentrate on student outcomes and align school resources * Creating an integrated system for teacher professional learning rooted in the continuous- improvement process * Building a strong instructional program geared to Common Core standards * Cultivating a deep commitment to equity and a 'growth mindset' in students, teachers, and leaders. In each partnership, we work ourselves out of a job in 3-5 years by helping our partner schools and districts to develop the capabilities they need to continue improvement toward eliminating the achievement gap. PSR is an independent, multi-denominational Christian seminary committed to prepare theologically grounded, spiritually rooted leaders for social transformation - both leaders of faith communities and leaders of organizations and movements for greater compassion and social justice in the wider world. About half of its students come from three denominations: the United Church of Christ, the United Methodist Church, and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Others come from faith traditions as diverse as Quaker, Unitarian Universalist, Metropolitan Community Churches, African Methodist Episcopal Church, and other mainline denominations and new religious movements. Throughout its history, PSR has been on the cutting edge of emerging movements for change in the Christian tradition, representing an early voice for the equality of women, resisting racial prejudice and war, and advocating for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people and the economically disadvantaged. PSR is a member of the Graduate Theological Union (GTU), an inter-faith consortium of theological schools and centers of study. Show less
