  The “Space Research and Applications” directorate is responsible for managing Belgium’s space programme on a daily basis, both on a European and bilateral level.Belgium has been active in the space sector for the past thirty years and was at the origin of the foundation of the European Space Agency (ESA). The directorate manages all the space programmes, i.e. space sciences, earth observation, navigation, telecommunications, international space station, exploration, launchers, technology and science programmes.For this purpose, it is in permanent contact with the industrial and scientific world to ensure its maximum involvement in these different programmes. Special attention is given to the development of products with a high technological value, ensuring a maximum return on investment in terms of our country’s financial help.I am the Belgian delegate at the Space working party of the Council of the European Union.   Connecting Citizen Ports 21 brings together 7 major inland ports and intends to promote connectivity and sustainable transport by optimising the organisation of freight logistics and sustainable spatial development of inland ports. The CCP21 Partners are: 1. Port of Brussels [BE] 2. Ports of Lille [FR] 3. Port of Paris [FR] 4. Port of Liège [BE] 5. Province of Utrecht [NL] 6. Port of Switzerland [CH] 7. Rheinports Basel-Mulhouse-Weil [DE] The 7 Partners decided to apply for funds from the Interreg IVB NWE (North West Europe) Programme. Interreg is a financial instrument of the European Union’s Cohesion Policy. It funds projects which support transnational cooperation. The CCP21 project was officially approved on 25 September 2010.
